(5,5-Dimethyl-2-methylsulfanyl-4,5-dihydro-3H-1-benzazepin-8-yl)-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (1.281 g, 3.8 mmol), Aminoacetaldehyde dimethyl acetal (0.542 mL, 5 mmol), and EtOH (100 mL, 2 mol) were heated to reflux for 2 hrs and stirred at rt for 72 h. LCMS 392 (M+H).
