Reaction Steps
A mixture of 4-[2-(3-hydroxy-phenyl)-thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidin-4-yl]-pyridine-2-carbonitrile, (48 mg), sodium hydroxide (1M, 0.3 mL) and aqueous hydrogen peroxide (30%, 0.1 mL) was stirred in methanol (3 mL) at room temperature. After stirring overnight, the reaction mixture was concentrated in vacuo, neutralised with HCl (2M), and diluted with water, yielding a precipitate. This was collected by filtration and purified using flash chromatography to yield the title compound (29 mg).
