Reaction Steps
1,4-dichlorophthalazine (5.00 g, 25.1 mmol) and (R)-2-methylpiperazine (6.29 g, 62.8 mmol) were dissolved in methyl ethyl ketone (80 mL) and stirred at rt for 2 days. The reaction was added to ethyl acetate (350 mL) and washed once with aqueous K2CO3 (10%), once with water, and once with saturated sodium chloride. The organic phase was dried (MgSO4) and evaporated to give an orange oil. Chromatography over silica gel with a gradient of dichloromethane/0-5% methanol gave a pale yellow solid. MS (M+H)+=263.1.
