3-(Benzyloxy)-6-(1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-(methoxymethoxy)propan-2-yl)-2-propylpyridine (407 mg, 0.931 mmol) was dissolved in ethanol (2.0 mL) and added with palladium carbon (40 mg). The resultant mixture was stirred under hydrogen atmosphere for 2 hours. After completion of the reaction, the reaction solution was filtered using celite and concentrated in vacuo. The obtained residue was purified using silica-gel column chromatography (hexane/ethyl acetate), and 6-(1,1,1,3,3,3-hexafluoro-2-(methoxymethoxy)propan-2-yl)-2-propylpyridin-3-ol (304 mg, yield 94%) was obtained as a brown oil.
