(S)-5-Bromo-4-{[2-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-4-oxo-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyridine-1-carbonyl]-amino}-2-methoxy-benzoic acid tert-butyl ester (170 mg) was stirred in 10 ml dichloromethane with 0.1 ml trifluoroacetic acid for 5 hours. Phosphate buffer (pH 7) was added, the layers separated, and the dichloromethane removed in vacuo. The residue was dissolved in acetone and recrystallized by slow addition of water. The crystals were filtered and dried to give 108 mg of (S)-5-bromo-4-{[2-(4-fluoro-phenyl)-4-oxo-3,4-dihydro-2H-pyridine-1-carbonyl]-amino}-2-methoxy-benzoic acid.
