Procedure

5-Bromo-4-chloro-3-(2-methoxy-phenyl)-1-(2-trimethylsilanyl-ethoxymethyl)-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine (94 mg, 0.201 mmol) was combined 2-(methylamino)ethanol (161 μL, 2.01 mmol) in a sealed tube and heated for 15 hours at 145° C. The crude product was purified by flash silica gel chromatography using a gradient of ethyl acetate in hexanes to afford 2-{[5-Bromo-3-(2-methoxy-phenyl)-1-(2-trimethylsilanyl-ethoxymethyl)-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridin-4-yl]-methyl-amino}-ethanol (67 mg, 0.132 mmol, 66% yield) as a clear oil.
