820 mg of succinic acid 4-{4-[(5S)-5-(acetylamino-methyl)-2-oxo-oxazolidin-3-yl]-2-fluoro-phenoxymethyl}-1-tert-butoxy-carbonyl-piperidin-4-yl ester benzyl ester (MW: 671.72, 1.23 mmol) were dissolved in 4 ml of trifluoro acetic acid. The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature for one hour. The solvent was evaporated, the residue dissolved in 30 ml of a 9/1 dichloromethane/methanol mixture and the organic layer washed successively with 30 ml of a saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution and 30 ml of brine. The organic layer was dried over magnesium sulfate, filtered and the filtrate evaporated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by chromatography over silica, using a 95/5 dichloromethane/methanol mixture with 2% triethylamine as eluent. Yield: 420 mg, 60%. MS: 572.7 (M+H)+, Method ESI+.
