To a solution of methyl 6-chloro-2-fluoro-3-(N′-hydroxy-N-(3-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl)carbamimidoyl)benzoate (1.1 g, 2.8 mmol) in DMF cooled to 0° C. was added NaH (0.136 g, 3.39 mmol) portionwise. The resulting orange solution was stirred at 0° C. for 2 h. The reaction was partitioned between EtOAc (50 ml), brine (30 mL), and water (20 mL). The aqueous layer was back exacted with EtOAc (3×20 mL) and the combined EtOAc layer was dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated to provide the title compound as a crude product.
