To a solution of 1-[1-(toluene-4-sulfonyl)-1H-pyrazol-3-yl]-propan-1-ol (2.20 g, 7.85 mmol) in CH2Cl2 was added the Dess-Martin periodinane (4.24 g, 10.00 mmol). After 12 hours, the reaction was quenched with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate and filtered through diatomaceous earth and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography eluting with 30% EtOAc in heptane. The major fractions were combined and the solvent was concentrated in vacuo to afford 1-[1-(toluene-4-sulfonyl)-1H-pyrazol-3-yl]-propan-1-one.
