Reaction Steps

Cesium hydrogencarbonate (194 mg, 1 mmol) was added to a solution of (2S)-2-[(tert-butoxy)carbonylamino]-3-[3,4-bis(phenylmethoxy)phenyl]propionic acid (297 mg, 1 mmol) in 5 mL water and 5 mL acetonitrile. The resulting mixture was stirred at room temperature for 10 minutes, then frozen and lyophilized to yield (2S)-2-[(tert-butoxy)carbonylamino]-3-[3,4-bis(phenylmethoxy)phenyl]propionic acid cesium salt as a white solid, which was used in the next reaction without further purification.
