To a solution of (±)-2-oxo-3-tert-butoxycarbonylamino-5-(2-cyclohexen-1-yl)-1,3,4,5-tetrahydro-2H-1,5-benzo diazepine (4.5 g) in ethanol (200 mL), 10% palladium carbon (1 g) was added, followed by stirring at room temperature for 2 hours under a hydrogen atmosphere. The reaction mixture was filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated under the reduced pressure. The residue was then recrystallized from ethanol, whereby the title compound (3.35 g) was obtained. Yield: 74%.
