250.8 g (1.5 mol) of 3,3-dimethyl-1-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-butan-2-one and 196 g (1.65 mol) of dimethylformamide dimethyl acetal were heated under reflux for 5 hours. Thereafter, the excess acetal was distilled off. 306 g (92% of theory) of 4,4-dimethyl-1-dimethylamino-2-(1,2,4-triazol-1-yl)-pent-1-en-3-one of refractive index nD20 1.531 were obtained. ##STR14##
