Reaction Steps

16 g of 3-amino-2-hydrazinoquinazolin-4(3H)-one were stirred in 48 ml of 4-aminobutanol at 160° C. for 3 days and the majority of the 4-aminobutanol was then distilled off under vacuum. The residue was diluted with water and the mixture was seeded and stored at 0° C. overnight to crystallize the product. The mixture was filtered and the recovered product was washed and dried to obtain 12.05 g of 3-amino-2-(4-hydroxybutylamino)-quinazolin-4(3H)-one.
