Procedure

10 g (0.029 mole) of 2-(3-n-butylsulfonyl-prop-1-yl)-cyclododecanone in 40 ml of toluene were heated to reflux for 30 min. in the presence of powdered KOH, in accordance with the process of Example 1, letter (b). After addition of 6 ml of DMSO, heating to reflux for 12 further hours and usual treatments of extraction and distillation as previously described, the desired title compound was isolated in a 84% yield.
