Procedure
4-Methylthioazetidin-2-one (940 mg., 8 mmole) and methyl 5-bromo-2,4-dioxopentanoate (2.21 g., 10 mmole) were converted into the title compound using the process described in Example 24.1. The title compound was obtained as a pale yellow gum (550 mg., 27% yield). (Found: M+, 259.05113. C10H13NO5S requires 259.05144). νmax (CHCl3): 1750 (br.)
