Procedure
By proceeding analogously similar 2-substituted 3-(1-methyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl) 2H-1-benzopyran-6-ols can be prepared. The above 6-methoxy-2-(2-phenylethyl)-3-(1-methyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl) 2H-1-benzopyran is prepared by refluxing for 2 hours a mixture of 6-methoxy-2-(2-phenylethyl)-3-(1-methyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl) 2,3-dihydro-4H-1-benzopyran-4-ol (2 g) (prepared following the procedure described in J. Het. Chem. (1984) 21, 311), phosphorous pentoxide (2 g) and Amberlite® 1R 122 (20 mg) in anhydrous benzene (200 ml).
