27.2 g (0.17 mol) of bromine were slowly added dropwise to a solution of 54.5 g (0.17 mol) of 1-(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl)-3 -acetylamino-5-oxo-2-pyrazoline in 300 ml of acetic acid, followed by stirring for 1 hour. The reaction mixture was then added to 900 ml of water, and the deposited crystals were filtered to obtain 57 g (84%) of 1-(2,4,6-trichlorophenyl)-3-acetylamino-4-bromo-5-oxo-2-pyrazoline.
