2.16 g (3.0 millimoles) of Z-Asp(OMe)-Leu-Arg(NO2)-Pro-ethylamide are dissolved in a mixture of 24 ml of methanol and 24 ml of acetic acid, thereafter 900 mg of 10% palladium-on-charcoal catalyst suspended in 24 ml of water are added under stirring and hydrogen gas is bubbled through the reaction mixture for 8 hours. Then the catalyst is filtered off, the filtrate is evaporated and the residue is triturated with ether and dried. Thus 1.73 g (87.3%) of title product are obtained.
