In analogy to GP 2, reaction of 4.19 g Intermediate 2 (14.8 mmol, 1 eq.), 1.79 mL dry pyridine (22.2 mmol, 1.5 eq.), 3.73 ml trifluoromethanesulfonic acid anhydride (22.2 mmol, 1.5 eq.) in 110 mL DCM yielded 5.6 g 2-pyridyl triflate (13.5 mmol, 91% yield).
