In analogy to GP 2, reaction of 4.5 g Intermediate 3 (17.6 mmol, 1 eq.), 2.13 mL dry pyridine (26.4 mmol, 1.5 eq.), 4.45 ml trifluoromethanesulfonic acid anhydride (26.4 mmol, 1.5 eq.) in 140 mL DCM yielded 2.9 g 2-pyridyl triflate (7.4 mmol, 42% yield).
