Procedure

To a solution of 2.4 g (8.62 mmol) of 1,1,1-trifluoro-3-(6-fluoro-4-methylchroman-4-yl)propan-2-ol in 20 mL of dichloromethane was added 5.0 g (11.79 mmol) of Dess-Martin periodinane. After 18 hours, the mixture was adsorbed onto silica gel and passed through a pad of silica gel, washing with 1:9 EtOAc-hexanes to afford 1.05 g (44%) of the title compound as an oil.
