To a stirring solution of the amine (III) (0.14 g, 0.56 mmol) in EtOAc (5 ml) was added a solution of HCl (2 M in Et2O, 0.28 ml). The mixture was concentrated in vacuo affording the hydrochloride salt (IV) as a brown solid (0.16 g, quantitative yield).
