Into 20cc of concentrated H2SO4 was dissolved 0.1g (0.4 mmol) of the product of Example 1 to give a brown solution. The solution was allowed to stand at room temperature for 10 minutes. Thereafter, the solution was cooled to 0°C. in an ice bath and ice was then added to it. The solution was then diluted with water and extracted twice with ethyl acetate. The combined extracts were sequentially washed once each with water and brine and then dried (MgSO4). Removal of the solvent under reduced pressure produced a yellow oil which was used without further purification.
