Procedure

The 2-formyl compound (1.06 g) obtained in Example 5 was dissolved in 7 ml of methanol and, with ice cooling and stirring, 90 mg of sodium borohydrate was added thereto. After stirring for 1 hour, 20 ml of sodium chloride solution was added to the reaction solution, extracted with chloroform, the chloroform layer was washed with water, dried, concentrated, and the residue was purified by a flash chromatography to give 0.64 g of pale yellow powder.
