Reaction Steps
1-[5-(5-tert-butyl-3-methanesulfonylamino-2-methoxy-phenylcarbamoyl)-2-methyl-phenyl]-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid ethyl ester (Example 2) (900 mg) was suspended in MeOH (7 mL). A solution of 10% sodium hydroxide (33 mL) was added and the reaction stirred 2 h. The solution was acidified with concentrated HCl to a pH of 4 resulting in a suspension. The suspension was cooled in an ice bath and the solids collected by vacuum filtration. The solids were washed with water, dried under vacuum over P2O5 at 50° C. to provide 1-[5-(5-tert-butyl-3-methanesulfonylamino-2-methoxy-phenylcarbamoyl)-2-methyl-phenyl]-1H-pyrazole-4-carboxylic acid (782 mg, 91%) as a white solid.
