To 4-[2-(4-methylsulfanyl-phenyl)-benzo[1,3]dioxol-2-yl]-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (see EXAMPLE 272) (166 mg, 0.375 mmol) in MeOH (5 mL) cooled to 0° C. was added OXONE® (461 mg, 0.75 mmol) and the mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. A second aliquot of OXONE® (461 mg, 0.75 mmol) was added and the mixture stirred at room temperature for 24 hours. Standard work-up gave 4-[2-(4-methanesulfonyl-phenyl)-benzo[1,3]dioxol-2-yl]-piperidine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester as a white solid (172 mg, 100%).
