Reaction Steps

A solution containing the compound of Example 11 (1.1 g) in dichloromethane (50 ml) was treated with chlorovaleryl chloride (0.52 ml) and triethylamine (0.64 ml) for 16 hours. The reaction was diluted with dichloromethane, washed with dilute hydrochloric acid and aqueous sodium bicarbonate, dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated to give an oil. To a solution containing the forgoing oil in ethanol (5 ml) was added dimethylamine (5 ml of a 33% solution in ethanol) and potassium iodide (50 mg). After stirring for 4 days the mixture was partitioned between ethyl acetate and water. The ethyl acetate solution was separated, dried and concentrated and the residue purified by chromatography on silica gel eluting with ethyl acetate-methanol (95:5) to give the title compound, mp 140° C.; found: C, 59.31; H, 5.47; N, 7.37. C28H31F6N3O.0.5H2O requires: C, 59.57; H, 5.71; N, 7.44.
