Procedure
A solution of methyl 1-(4-bromo-2-fluorobenzyl)-1H-indazole-3-acetate (0.30g) in methanol (5 ml) containing 10% aqueous KOH (1 ml) was stirred at roomtemperature for 16 hours. It was then concentrated to a low volume, and then diluted with ethyl acetate (10 ml) and sufficient 10% HCl added to adjust the pH to about 4.0. The ethyl acetate layer was washed with water (5 ml), dried and then evaporated to a white solid (yield: 0.21 g; m.p. 167°-168° C.).
