Procedure
15 g (0.126 mol) of thionyl chloride were added dropwise to a stirred solution of 19.7 g (0.05 mol) of the R enantiomer of 2-[3-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethylphenoxy)-phenoxy]-propionic acid in 100 ml of toluene at 20° C. The mixture was heated to 100° C. for 2 hours. Thereafter, the reaction mixture was evaporated down by stripping off the volatile constituents under reduced pressure. In this manner, the R enantiomer of 2-[3-(2,6-dichloro-4-trifluoromethyl-phenoxy)-phenoxy]-propionic acid-chloride was obtained in the form of an oily product, which was used for the further reaction. ##STR37##
