Reaction Steps

To a stirred solution of 1.46 g of 2,4-dimethylphenyl isocyanate in 100 ml of hexane was added a solution of 2.63 of 6-[[(4-butylphenyl)methyl]amino]-1-hexanol (prepared as described in Example 489) in 500 ml of hexane. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. Evaporation gave a gum. The gum was purified by chromatography to yield 2.81 g of the desired product as a colorles gum.
