Reaction Steps
It was also reported that the reaction of 1-ephedrine with o-methylbenzoyl chloride and subsequent hydrolysis of the resulting amide gave d-pseudoephedrine. Welsh, J. Am. Chem. Soc., 71, 3500 (1949).
