4.65 gm of 4-hydroxy-2-methylmercapto-5-nitropyrimidine (0.025 mol) are dissolved with heating in 150 ml of ethanol and refluxed for 5 hours with 4.68 gm of aniline (0.05 mol). The precipitated product is extracted in the cold, washed with ethanol and dried.
