Reaction Steps

To 2.3 g of 2,3-dimethylsuccinic acid, 2.0 g of -amidino-2-naphthyl 5-aminomethylfuran-2-carboxylate dihydrochloride and 66 mg of DMAP was added 25 ml of pyridine, and the mixture was stirred while cooling with ice. After 10 minutes, 2.16 g of DCC was added and the mixture was stirred for 1 hour at 4°-8° C. and then for 2 hours at 16°-17° C. The precipitate was filtered off, the filtrate was added in small portions into 150 ml of ether and the mixture was stirred for 1 hour at room temperature. The precipitate was collected by filtration, then 60 ml of acetone was added thereto and the mixture was stirred for 3 hours. The precipitate was collected by filtration to obtain 1.3 g of the intended product.
