Reaction Steps

To 4-methyl-5α-4-azaandrostan-3-on-17β-yloxyacetic acid (3.5 mg) in CH2Cl2 (0.2 ml) under N2 was added diphenyldiazomethane (ca. 20 mg) in portions during 15 minutes. The reaction stirred at room temperature for 2 hours, then additional diphenyldiazomethane (ca. 5 mg) was added and the reaction was allowed to stir overnight. The mixture was purified via preparative TLC on a silica gel plate (1000μ) developed with EtOAc to yield diphenylmethyl 4-methyl-5α-4-azaandrostan-3-on-17β-yloxyacetate, (Rf =0.4/EtOAc).
