This compound is prepared in a manner analogous to that of Step C of Example 2, by the hydrogenation of 8.9 grams (0.026 mole) of 8-(2,2,3,3-tetrafluoro-2,3-dihydrobenzofuran-7-ylmethylene)-1,4-dioxaspiro[4.5]decane in the presence of 0.4 gram (catalyst) of 10% palladium on charcoal in 50 mL of ethanol, yielding 8-(2,2,3,3-tetrafluoro-2,3-dihydrobenzofuran-7-ylmethyl)-1,4-dioxaspiro[4.5]decane.
