N-[5-(4-ethylphenyl)thiophene-2-sulfonyl]pyrrole was prepared, in the same manner as described in Example 32C, from 4-ethylphenyl-boronic acid and N-(5-bromothiophenesulfonyl)pyrrole. Purification by column chromatography using 10% ethyl acetate/hexanes gave the pure sulfonamide as a tan solid in 81 % yield.
