3-(3,4-Dichlorophenyl)-3-(5-methoxy-2-methyl-3-oxo-2,3-dihydro-1H-isoindol-1-yl)propionaldehyde (0.38 g) was coupled to 4-acetamido-4-phenylpiperidine (0.29 g) by a method similar to that described in Example 8. The reaction product was purified by chromatography and converted to the corresponding hydrochloride salt as described in the Example 8 to afford the title compound (0.7 g); mp 182-210° C. (d); MS: m/z=580(M+1); NMR(CD3OD): 2.1 (s,3), 2.3 (m,2), 2.9 (m,1), 2.6 (m,2), 2.7-3.0 (m,3), 3.1-3.3 (m,7), 3.6-3.7 (m,3), 3.95 (s,3), 4.9 (m,1), 6.7 (dd,1, J=8, 2), 6.9 (d,1, J=2), 7.2 (d,1, J=2), 7.2-7.4 (m,8), 7.8 (d,1, J=8), 7.8-8.1 (m,3). Analysis for C32H 34Cl2N3O3.HCl.H2O: Calculated: C, 60.53; H, 6.03, N, 6.62; Found: C, 60.47; H, 5.93; N, 6.43.
