1.146 g of ethyl N-[(2'-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)biphenyl-4-yl)methyl]-N-valeryl-2-aminomethyl-2-ethylbutyrate are dissolved in 10 ml of ethanol, treated with 4.66 ml of 2N NaOH solution and heated to reflux for 20 hours. After cooling to room temperature and addition of 4.66 ml of 2N hydrochloric acid, the mixture is evaporated. The product is isolated by chromatography on silica gel 60 (40-63 μm) using CH2Cl2 --MeOH 80:20, Rf =0.38 (system N8). MS (FAB): m /e 486 (M+ +Na), 502 (M+ +K).
