To acetonitrile (10 ml) was added 2-amino-5-ethyl-1,3,4-thiadiazole (645 mg) and 4-iodobenzyl bromide (1.49 g), followed by heating under reflux for 20 hours. After the reaction mixture was cooled, the crystals so precipitated were collected by filtration and dried, whereby 1.52 g of the title compound was obtained.
