A mixture of (S)-(-)-N-[[3-[4-(3,6-dihydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)-3-fluorophenyl]-2-oxo-5-oxazolidinyl]methyl]acetamide (EXAMPLE 47, 1.00 g) and 10% palladium-on-carbon (637 mg) in methanol (60 mL) is shaken on a Parr apparatus under a hydrogen atmosphere at 40 psi for three hours, the catalyst is removed by filtration through Celite and the filtrate is concentrated under reduced pressure to give the title compound, mp 191-192° C.
