A solution of 469 mg (0.87 mmol) of the intermediate obtained in Step F in 25 mL of methanol at room temperature was treated with 5 mL ofaqueous 5N sodium hydroxide. After stirring at room temperature for 1 hour, the reaction mixture was evaporated under vacuum and the residue dissolved in methylene chloride, dried over magnesium sulfate and filtered. The filtrate was evaporated under vacuum to yield 450 mg of crude product which was used in the next step without purification.
