4,5-(Dimethylmethylenedioxy)-3-(1-ethoxyethoxy)-6-heptenenitrile (1.40 g) was dissolved in 13 ml of dry toluene, and 2.0 ml of 2N diisobutyl aluminum hydride was added dropwise at -78° C. After stirring at -78° C. for 100 minutes, the temperature was then elevated to 0° C., and 10% dilute sulfuric acid was then gradually added.
