Procedure

A solution of compound 3 (0.100 g; 0.200 mmol) and 96% H2SO4 (1 mL) in 100 mL of methanol was stirred under reflux for 24 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated, diluted with methylene chloride, and washed with aqueous sodium bicarbonate. The organic phase was dried over anhydrous sodium sulphate, concentrated and purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluant: CH2Cl2/CH3OH=190/10) to yield compound 41 (0.05 g; 56%).
