4-Hydroxy-7-(2-methyl-5-trifluoromethyl-2H-pyrazol-3-yl)-2-oxo-2H-thiochromene-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester was prepared from 7-bromo-4-hydroxy-2-oxo-2H-thiochromene-3-carboxylic acid methyl ester under conditions analogous to Example 44(a) using 1-Methyl-5-tributylstannanyl-3-trifluoromethyl-1H-pyrazole. The crude material was used in the next step without purification.
