Reaction Steps

To a solution of (S)-2-(2-Nitro-phenylamino)-pentanoic acid tert-butyl ester (0.69 g, 2.4 mmol) in MeOH (10 mL) was added a slurry of Pd/C (0.2 g) in MeOH (10 mL). The reaction mixture was degassed using house vacuum. The flask was saturated with H2 and stirred under H2 balloon for 2 h. When the reaction was completed, the mixture was filtered through a pad of celite and the filtrate was concentrated to afford 0.61 g (97%) of the desired product. The resulting residue was used for the next reaction without further purification.
