To a mixture of (S)-3-[3-(1,4-dimethyl-1H-indol-3-ylmethyl)-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-benzimidazol-1-yl]-hexanoic acid (1.45 g, 3.6 mmol) in H2O (25 mL) was added NaOH (1.041 M in THF) (3.1 mL, 3.2 mmol). The solution was stirred at room temperature for 2 hours. The solution was washed with EtOAc (30 mL×2) and the aqueous layer was lyophilized to give the desired sodium (S)-3-[3-(1,4-dimethyl-1H-indol-3-ylmethyl)-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-benzimidazol-1-yl]-hexanoate (1.4 g, 91%) as a white solid. LCMS (ESMS):428.10 (M+H+).
