6-Chloro-4-[3-(2-methoxycarbonyl-ethyl)-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-benzoimidazol-1-ylmethyl]-indole-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (570 mg 1.1 mmol) is dissolved in 2.5 mL of dichloromethane and 2.5 mL of trifluoroacetic acid is added. The reaction is stirred for one hour, and then the solvent evaporated in vacuo to give an oil. The oil is taken up 3× in methanol and evaporated in vacuo to give the desired compound (450 mg, 1.1 mmol, 100%)
