Reaction Steps

To a suspension of NaH (60%, 1.163 g) in THF (dry) (30 mL) was added 2-chloroethanesulfonyl chloride (1.22 ml.) at 0° C. and the mixture was stirred for 5 min at the same temperature. A solution of 3-(2-methylbiphenyl-4-yl)pyridin-2-amine (1.51 g) in THF (dry) (50 mL) was added at 0° C. and the mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. The mixture was quenched with water at 0° C. carefully. Water and EtOAc were added and the precipitates were collected and washed with water and EtOAc, dried in vacuo to give the title compound (339 mg) as a white solid. A part of this was recrystallized from MeCN-THF/IPE.
