Reaction Steps
To 8-(5-bromo-3-methylpyridin-2-yl)-1,4-dioxaspiro[4.5]decan-8-ol (23.2 g) described in Reference Example 105 (1) was added 3 N hydrochloric acid aqueous solution (140 ml), and stirred at room temperature for 16 hours. After completion of the reaction, a saturated aqueous solution of sodium hydrogen carbonate was added thereto, the precipitated solid was collected by filtration, and then washed with ethanol to give 4-(5-bromo-3-methylpyridin-2-yl)-4-hydroxycyclohexanone (18.3 g) as a pale yellow solid.
