To a solution of tert-butyl N-{4-hydroxy-2-[2-(2H-1,2,3-triazol-2-yl)benzamido]cyclopentyl}carbamate (910 mg, 2.35 mmol) in dry DCM (12 ml) at 0° C. under an atmosphere of nitrogen was added Dess-Martin periodinane (3.4 g, 7.99 mmol). The reaction was warmed to room temperature for 2 hours then concentrated in vacuo. The crude material was purified by column chromatography (silica, 0-100% ethyl acetate/petrol) to afford the title compound.
